Aged in Rogue Creamery’s traditionally modeled cellars
For their Oregon Blue, Rogue Creamery modeled their cellars on Roquefort’s. When designing their first blue cheese in 1954, they decided to draw on Roquefort’s long experience as one of the most famous blue cheese makers in the world. However, they went further and replaced sheep’s milk by cow’s milk.
The result is a flavorful blue cheese, with a softer bite and a hint of honey. This authentic blue cheese has a savory-sweet finish that has a broad appeal for cheese lovers.
What to pair Rogue Oregon Blue with?
Rogue Oregon’s taste is milder than other blue cheeses. It allows combinations with ingredients that would be overpowered by other blue cheeses. Our suggestion is to serve it on a cheese board, with an assortment of crackers, jams, and fruits, such as blueberry jam and figs. It can also be incorporated into your favorite pies, pizzas, and sandwiches, or enjoyed just as it is.
Other Rogue Creamery blue cheeses to discover
Rogue Creamery is famous for its blue cheeses, and once you’ve tasted one, you’ll want to discover more. Rogue Tolman Blue has a natural rind and develops notes of mushroom and umami while aging. Rogue Smokey Blue is smoked with hazelnut shells, giving it an intricate flavor, which will delight your palate if you enjoy smoked foods. All three of these blue cheeses are safe for vegetarian cheese lovers.
